Who we are

LaTri-c-ea McClendon-Hunt, Esq., is a seasoned legal professional with nearly 11 years of experience specializing in alternative dispute resolution, strategic legal consulting, and court monitoring. For the past seven years, she has devoted herself to overseeing compliance with court orders ensuring constitutionally adequate mental health care across more than 30 prisons in California. This critical role has sharpened her skills in strategic planning, negotiation, problem-solving, and leadership.

Throughout her career, she has managed multidisciplinary teams, reviewed thousands of legal filings, led negotiations, and anticipated challenges to provide well-informed legal recommendations. She firmly believes in the philosophy that "Everyday Wins Matter"—steady, thoughtful progress leads to meaningful change.

At the age of 18, she had the unique experience of diving aboard a submarine, which taught her two lifelong lessons: things are not always what they seem, and there is great power in tranquility. These insights continue to guide her approach to legal and strategic challenges, enabling her to dive beneath surface-level impressions and make calm, thoughtful decisions with profound impact.

She is a dedicated advocate for victims of domestic violence and has provided counsel to indigent populations across a wide range of legal matters. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Justice Assistance, a nonprofit organization that empowers justice-involved individuals by providing critical resources for employment, housing, behavioral health, and financial literacy, reflecting her commitment to community service and social justice.

Recognized as one of the “Top 100 Black Lawyers” in Rhode Island in 2025, she was named annually as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in Alternative Dispute Resolution from 2022 to 2024 and featured in the Rhode Island Super Lawyers Rising Stars List. She earned her J.D. from Appalachian School of Law, where she served as Productions Editor of the Natural Resources Law Journal and was a member of the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team. She holds a B.A. in International Affairs from Marquette University and is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island, the United States District Court for Rhode Island, and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.

Active in numerous professional and civic organizations, she currently serves as First Vice President of the Kappa Phi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and she has presented at Law Day programs emphasizing civics, civility, and collaboration.
